I’m slow catching up on my blog today, its been a crunching weekend!  I havent played much live poker as I had planned too.  Saturday was my B-Day surprise from my good buddy Michelle.  She surprised me with tickets to KC and the Sunshine Band concert!!  I’m relly dating myself now.  We had a wonderful and she pulled some strings so that we could go backstage and meet KC…it was the bomb!  We played all night and into the morning, it was a memorable night!

So today I’m trying to catchup on a little poker on Pokerstars.  I dont really see a game that I like, so I head over to the tournament tab.  I remembered reading about the NBC HeadsUp tourneys and saw one that started in about 35 minutes, great!  I played and won my seat to advance….

What a bad day!  I had a doctors appt for some out patient procedure (you dont want to know)..lol and it totally ruined my day.

I am officially the Tournament Coordinator for the Montel Williams MS Gala and Poker Tournament happening in Manhattan NY in March….phew!  What a long name!  This is a voluntary position I got pulled into by some poker friends who were looking for some help.  How can I turn something like this down for charity?  Besides I played poker with Montel a few weeks ago, and he is a sincerely compassionate man.  I was moved.  My step-daughter has MS so this cause hits close to home.

The only poker I attempted today was on Full Tilt for the LPS.  I kinda thought it would be a donation as I was on the phone when the tournament started and got off long enough to go out!…lol.  Thats okay, I dont get to play with the LPS often as I would like due to bad timing mostly.

I did learn a poker lesson today, how to give back to the community.  If I can do it thru poker, which I love and is a passion to me, then I am a better person thru my abilities as a poker enthusiast.

What a hectic day….but ya know, I still found some time to squeeze in some online play…lol.  I’m so dedicated…lol.  Addicted more like it..lmao

I played low limit cash again this morning, and managed to get in about $10 more into my bankroll.    Only one memorable hand when I cheked down the board to the river and caught my st8t.  Little did I know, the other player had PP Aces.  I bet $1….he raised to $3…I’m thinking maybe he has the same hand I do, so I’m staring at the board to see if there’s something that would beat my st8t and there isnt.  If he has the same hand I do he’ll just call my re-raise right?  So I re-raise to $6 and he instantly puts me all in!!  I’m thinking…dam…whats this guy doing?!?!  I call, and I’m in shock to see his PP aces…that I just crushed…he left the table….

New Balance is $264.22

I spoker to Janice(Jebber99) earlier today and told her I was spending the day playing live at the Wynn.  Well…..my phone rang constantly all morning and I got pulled into helping Montel Williams do a charity tournament in New York in March.  There is totally no planning thus far for the poker tournament, so the committee really has a challenge to meet by March.  I wound up staying home all day doing reseach and of course playing on line.

I broke my routine and went against Fergusons outline and took my cash game up to the quarter limits.  I have been playing nickels and dimes as he suggests to not sit with more than 5% of your bankroll.  Sorry Chris, but the nits on the micro games were getting too lucky too many times, so I went looking for better players in the low limits.  Yes, I broke away and sat down with 15% of my bankroll, equivelant to $15-25.  Know WHAT?…it worked!  I played tight and doubled up 3 times on one table and 2 times on another.  That’s the beauty of cash games, you can bank your profit and move to another table and start over with your starting stack again.

I didnt write down specific hands, but a couple are still fresh in my mind.

I had 9/10os in a BB.  3 players, flop Q89, I chek, bet 50, call 50, I call.  Turn J, I bet $1, fold and raise to $2, I call.  River is 9…I bet $1, he pushes his whole $9 in, I call w/st8t, he mucks and I win!

Another hand I limped in late position w/56spades.  4 players. Flop 8s 7s 10c…player1 bets $1.50, call, push for $12, to me….I have the st8t flush draw and I just cant see me folding this…Doyles words are going thru my head, “good players make good laydowns, great players make great plays”…so I pushed too.  The player that bet $1.50 folded as did the next player.  The turn was 3s and river 2h.  I made the flush but not the st8t, and he mucked.  I think he must have had K10 or maybe a small pocket pair.  In cash the losing hand mucks, so you generally never see those cards.

So…..I banked some rightous buks and new balance is $254.52!!

I did what I promised and logged my time, balances and profit. New balance is $164.27.  At this rate I would starve to death if I relied on my PS income…lol…onward I trudge on!!

I played for about 4 hours in the micro limits tonight and I have to say…all the NITS were out!  Sometimes this is good but tonight it swung back and forth.  I just couldnt understand how I ended the evening even!  One table I busted and lost $6.  Another table I cashed out $26.  Moved to another table and cashed $14.  Still I must have missed some lost dollars somewhere?  SO!…from now on, I write down on paper my balance, my starting cash and my cash out!  Just to double check my accounting and PokerStars!

I invited 3 girlfriends out for a girls afternoon for a little poker tournament at Green Valley and then lunch.  Sarah, a dear friend of mine is on her last chemo treatment so we were celebrating!

The tournament is a small ladies $50 tourney that pulls 2-5 tables.  It’s very social and laid back, just what we were looking for!  As fate would have it, Sarah went out first of our group, leaving myself, Debbie and Cheryl to bring up the rear and make the final table which we did.  I went out 4th and the remaining ladies chopped.  Lunch was fun and we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon just visiting and reassuring Sarah that her future was looking up and forward.

I played poker on line in the evening, so another post is forth coming

My parents have gone home, and I’m FREE at last!…lol.  So I head out to the Wynn to log in for some hours.  They are running a promo for January and February, every hour you log in live games you get a entry to the drawings for a tournament seat.  I’ll be playing every day if possible up to the drawings.

Last night was a roller coasters night.  I played 51/2 hrs, on 2/5NL.  Started out well with quad A’s and went from $400 to $700 right away.  I lost $300 with this hand.  PP 10’s on the button w/1 limper and blinds.  Blinds fold and limper calls my $25.  Flop is 10/J/9…he bets 25, I call. Turn is 7, he bets 50, I raise to 150, he calls.  River is 8,  he ckeks, I bet 100, he flat calls and oops he has st8t to my set.  I dont think he even knew he had the st8t or he would have raised me.  He was surprised to see my set.

I ended the night with just $412.  The cards didnt come and I just maintained until I knew it was time to go.

Today I play with the girls at Green Valley for fun.

This has been my birthday weekend, and with my parents visiting for 2 weeks, I have a feeling not much poker is going to be played.  I did slip in about an hour of online poker last night on the micro limit tables and banked another $2.50

Bankroll now at approx. $223………………….
