Wow, I havent written anything in here all week….so sorry, but not much poker going on right now.  I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time on PokerNews and the WSOP getting ready for my LONG upcoming stint of reporting.  Thanks to all of you who regularly read the blogs, it means so much to me to see the support our members show each other in all the venues available to the LPS.

I’m leaving tomorrow morning for Ohio/Kentucky to be with my Dad during a difficult surgery and will be gone for a week which puts me right into the WSOP on the day of my return.  On top of all of this, it appears we’re finally going to get an offer on our property in Ohio which has been on the market for almost 3 years!…YUK!  I hope its a good one!….and last night we got bad news that Steve’s business partner of 30 years lost her Dad to cancer suddenly.  By coincidence they are in Ohio, so Steve will be going with me to attend the funeral.

I probably wont be posting too much poker while I’m gone, but you ladies keep the poker hot and the fires burnin while I’m gone!

God Bless…

Thursday night Steve talked me into going to the SunCoast to play in their $45 tournament.  There were only 5 tables but its a easy structure and the people are very friendly.  Steve is working on his game to play the seniors event at the WSOP.  My first table turned out to be my only table until the final table.  I was at the table with a drunk 23 yr old who was pushing my limits.  I managed to accumulate alot of chips when we got down to 2 tables and the chip leader was brought to my table…..another 23 yr old drunk kid, just what I need.  These two guys were sitting side by side two spots to my right, which was GREAT!  I decided to open up my game and play back at these two.  I bluffed them, cut up and laughed with them right to the final table.  At the final table, i drew seat 4, they were in 1 and 2.  I played one of the most aggressive games in this little tournament I’ve ever played, caused in part because of the loud, aggressive nature of these two guys.  I took third when my PP 9’s got busted by J/10h which drew out a flush.  I gambled more in this tourney than I ever have, and it paid off.  I think I’ve found a new strategy for my tournament game.

One more thing about this tournament, I was doing some math on the payouts and found the house rake was 25%….so no more.  I wont pay that much ever on a tournament and especially not on a $45 one.

I actually have some poker to write about from the past few days!  I went out and played some live poker after being house bound for so long and chained to my laptop!!  Monday I went to the Bellagio, and I rarely go there, to meet up with a poker bud.  I won my way into the $550 via a $130 SST.  Monday is a slow day, but there still were a couple of old pro’s there.  5 tables so 5 places paid.  I did fairly well, no bad beats, just solid poker for the most part.  I was one of two ladies in the whole tounament, and you could tell the men viewed us as the weaker players.  Right away I felt the need to show one or two single cards to establish my skill.  I pushed back when I could and stole every time they let me.  I had a nice stack of 48K going into the final table.  There were two hands that took me out.

Blinds were 1K/2K/500, folds around to button, he acted quickly, pushed his last 20K in with KQh.  I have AKos in the BB so I call.  Flop comes AJJ with 2 hearts, turn 9h river 2h….overkill to run the flush.  I’m down to 28K.  Next hand I’m in the SB.   UTG min raises, folds around to the button who calls, I have Q/10d, so I complete the bet.  Flop comes Q810.  I flopped 2 pair, so I chek, UTG throws out 10K, button folds, and I push in.  He thinks for a long time, then says, I call….He turns over AQ vs my 2 pair of Q/10.  Turn is a Q!!!…I filled up!…but river is unforgiving and is ACE!…boat over boat….it sucks to b me….I’m out 5 before the money….

POKER, POKER, POKER, AND MORE POKER!!  and on Mother Day Too!  I havent marathoned poker for a while on line and live but for the past weekend, that’s exactly what I did.  I noticed Punky posted about her losing streak and really didnt want too.  I think thats a common feeling among poker players even the successful ones.  I posted a comment on her blog saying, “everyone has losing streaks, and anyone who says they dont, is a lyin dog!”  and I know thats true.  This game is the most inconsistant game ever invented because of the luck factor and the random hits of the cards.  Yes, I have losing streaks.  The reason I dont post about them is because my eye is on my ROI…that means my “return on investment” percentage.  If I keep playing and paying and NEVER cash, my ROI percentage goes higher on the negative percentage, which means I’m losing more than I’m winning.  But when my ROI gets into a positive percentage, I know I’m improving and I work even harder to make it go higher.  Find your stats and ROI at this FREE site.  www.officialpokerrankings.com.  My ROI is so all over the charts that I sometimes have to pull up my tournament results to review what I’ve been playing.  So dont get upset about your losing streaks, cuz chances are someone you know is streaking right beside you.

Now, my playing this weekend was all over the place.  Friday night I played on line and nothing terrific happened.  Made a couple of small cashes, but nothing to write here about.  Saturday, I played at PS and madeit into the money, but again a small cash.  I had planned to go to the Golden Nugget to play in a 2/5NL cash game because Steve wanted to play their tournament at 7pm.  At 2pm a friend of mine called to tell me Montel Williams was at the Golden Nugget and looking for players.  Next thing I know, I’m talkin to Montel on her cell phone!  So I jump into my car and head down to the Nugget after I busted out of the PS tournament and pull up to a sign at valet that says, FULL, HOTEL GUESTS ONLY.  Well shit, I bet they will let Thomas Jefferson park here, so I slip the valet a bill and tell him I’m here to meet Montel Williams in the poker room, a little name droppin dont hurt, and it gets me a parking space out front!….LOL

I met Montel in NYC a couple of months ago, when I worked his charity event as a tournament coordinator.  He has a good memory, and was excited to see me again and talk poker of course.  Since he’s left television, his schedule of projects has jammed up his calendar and he’s working hard on his game.   He was running one table satellites for $250 and they had played one already before I got there, and Montel went out first.  So we’re talking about how he went out, and I jump into a cash game while we’re waiting on the next table to fill up.  The best NL game is 1/2NL.  Every pot is raised preflop to 15, and I like this aggressiveness.  I sit down with $500.  Montel is standing behind me and talking, so I have shush him a couple of times when I get involved in a big hand, so he pulls up a chair to watch me play.  I made about $400 in an hour, so i made my buy-in for the one table satellite.  10 handed, and Montel is 2 players to my left.  We start with 10K in chips and 15 minute rounds.  A fast structure so we wont play all night, it took about 3 hours.  We’re paying 4 places.  Well…..we soon have a crowd of people watching the tournament because Montel is very recognizable, and it gets to be a really fun time.  BUT…I gotta tell ya, Montel needs some coaching on his game….lol.  He was first out AGAIN, and I was surprised at the junk he was playing.  I told him later, he needs to play tight in the beginning, steal in position and loosen up with the antes start as there is more in the pot to steal.  Well, he tried that in the next satellite, but everyone wanted to “takeMontel out”, which stacks the odds against him.  Montel stayed around until we played out the table which I bubbled on the money.  It became an all-in fest and I pushed with two pair vs. one pair, and he turned his second pair higher than mine.  I moved back to the cash game, I was making more money there anyway.  The satellite finished and Montel started another one, $250.  He begged me to play this one too, but I stayed in the cash game.  All most at once I look over and see Montel standing….oh no, he looks over at me and motions to come over, I see PP Aces turned up and say, “are those yours?” yep! vs PP 3’s….I look at this kid, who is about 5 seconds older than 21 with a huge grin on his face.  He had played in my satellite too, and was a terrible player, if fact I took him out.  The flop comes 2/3/5….the kid flops a set, but I say, “you’ve got outs”….turn is J and river a K.  He doubles thru Montel and he’s left with about 2300.  I go sit down and 2 minutes later, Montel is standing again, all-in with PP K’s.  He’s called with A6d.  An ace flops and he’s out.  He walks over to me at the cash table and says, I’m done for the night.  I think playing against these inexperienced players is bad for me, I wanted to tune up my game, and I dont think this is helping.  I laughed and said, “you think you’re ot going to be playing against inexperienced players at the WSOP?”…LOL.  Well, the short of it was, he’ll be back in two weeks in which case we’re going to meet up and play 2/5/10NL with real money.  THAT I will want to play!!!

55th Place out of 1701….what a disappointment.  I keep getting deep, but cant seem to make the final table in one of these dam tourneys.  I should have been out about 4 or 5 times, but luck was on my side, it was almost embarassing.  Once my stack grew, so did my confidence, and I made a couple of questionable calls and pushes, but I wholly rely on my notes and betting patterns that arent 100% reliable, but most probably are 95% of the time.  I was chip leader for about 5 minutes, then I screwed myself.  Well, something else that influenced my play was the fact that my hubby came in to watch and give his 2 cents when I didnt need it.  How do you kick your husband out of the bedroom at 10pm?….

BIG THANKS to sdjen for railin me!…it nice to have some support!!

UGH!…I’ve never been so disappointed in my own play as last night.  In the $10R/$55KG tourney I last thru the re-buy period seated to the left of a FRIGGIN NUTCASE!!…this guy did 13 double rebuys…UNREAL!  He had about $260 invested in this tourney.  I never did a rebuy, but did addon and had 24K after the rebuy.  The table busted and I went to another table where a guy liked to push in alot with around 22K an then show bluffs, and type in the chat, Gotcha! I had nothin!…GREAT, another nutcase.  I busted PP Aces with a flopped set of 9’s because the guy slow played them in the BB and me on the button.  Chip count $46K now, table busted 3rd new table.  I hate moving so much, its hard work keeping notes on players and I seldom see them again after the table breaks.  The third table however had big stacks and aggressive players.  I kicked into tight mode to get a feel for the table and gather some notes on these players.  A large stack two to the right of me was raising no matter what when he was on the button, and it was my BB.  After three times of this, I pushed back, he folded.  Next orbit, he did it again, I re-raised and he folded.  That was enough, he got the message.  I played at this table for a long time.  Lost a race AK vs PP 6’s for his all-in 5K…down to 38K.  We were still 400 away from the money, so lots of poker left yet to play.  Blinds are 400/800/75 and the small stacks are starting to fall.  I go card dead, and the button starts pushing me again.  Blinds go up 500/1000/100, I get PP J’s and raise, get re-raised all-in for another 3800, call it and he has PP 10’s.  He flops a set and my stack goes down to 26K.  Nothing is happening, I steal a couple of times to keep my 26K at a level.  Blinds go to 600/1200/125  when this hand comes up.  Folds all around to the button, who raises to 3600, SB folds and I see AJ suited.  I re-raise to 8000, and he calls.  Flop comes AJ10 with 2 clubs.  I check, he bets 10K and I push in.  He sits for a minute thinking and then calls, he turns over PP K’s!!!!  Oh shit!…I NEVER put him on that hand!…DUH!…The turn is a Q and and the river is a 8 and I”M DUN!!!

I let my frustration of this button guy get to me.  I had played a fantastic game thus far, and was racing to the money line with great confidence until then.  I under-estimated this guy and ran into a trap.

I’m going to play this tourney again tonight.

I played a $3R satellite into the Sunday Millions late afternoon yesterday.  It was loooong!  I finally made the money about 4 hours later, and just got tired of fooling with it.  Do you EVER feel that way?  I pushed in with PP Q’s with 38K, the table was being heavily bullied by two stacks over 200K.  Of course, one of them called me with AJos and flopped a Ace.  I got $124 for a $6 investment.  Thats half of my buy-in for Sunday Millions.

I’m thinking of going over to the Silverton Casino tonight to investigate the Pink Poker Night for Ladies.  There just might be a story here…..

Today turned out to be a real stinker.  I didnt get any of my errands run because I had to do a re-write for my editor.  I wasnt very happy with his request, but thats why he gets the BIG bucks, and I’m just a lowly writer.

No poker today, I did play a little in a cash game, nothing huge.  BUT!  I did report a suspected BOT at my table!  This guy was in about 15 tables, and playing very robotically.  I did a search for a player option and it was BLOCKED!  Then I did a search for poker rankings and statistics and it was zero.  Can you say BUSTED???

I got a prelim-report from PS thanking me for reporting it and 2 minutes later, he left.  Amazing huh?

I dont play many live tournaments, as most of you know cash games are my comfort zone. But every now and then Steve will talk me into playing with him in one of his short/cheap tourneys. This weekend one was one of those times…lol

Friday night we met up with another couple, friends, that wanted to play too at the SunCoast. Buy-in was $45, they had 69 players and paid 5 spots. I made it to the final table and when we were down to 6 they started talking chop. Everyone wanted to except the guy who was 2nd in chips, of course a couple of guys gave him a hard time, but he wouldnt budge. Next hand he lost 10,000 in chips and a player went out and he was ready to chop…lol. So we did for about $280 ea.

Saturday night I went with Steve to the Gold Nugget. We paid $65 with an optional rebuy/add-on for $40 for a total of 5500 in chips, not bad. 6 tables that paid 5 spots. I was card dead for the longest time on a very
aggressive table. I finally was moved to another table, and flood gates of cards opened up. I doubled up 3 times, and made it to the final table where I ended up 3rd for $500.

Think I’ll play that tournament again…..

Sunday Millions was terrible!!…I never had a Ace in my hand or two faces cards in 3 levels.  I was at the most aggressive table ever!  Every hand was raised, and the flop went to the river a total of two time in over an hour!  I had PP 6’s and PP 3’s in the first level and got nothing.  Card dead in level 2 and PP 8’s twice in level 3 where I went out the second time, running into PP Aces….yuk!!

Hopefully I will win my way in again for next Sunday, and will do better!!  I’m filing this under SHIT HAPPENS…LOL

WOW!…is all I can say about my qualifier!….I played 3!!…count ’em 3!  The first one was a $3R…and I went deep in it, but went out on this hand….

Early position min raised, (400/800/75) folds around to me in BB, I have 84K in chips I complete the raise w/P 6’s.  Flop comes 236.  I check he has (53K behind)  fires out a BIG overbet of 8K.  There’s about 4K in pot.  I re-raise him to 20K, half his stack, he goes into the tank, maybe he thought I was on a steal, but he pushed in w/PP 10s and I turn up my Set!!…turn is 5 and river a 10!!!!…he totally cripples me down to about 23K and I never recovered….

2nd tourney was a $10 tourney that went nowhere.  I took several bad beats and went out early.

Last tourney was a $5R  I had a total of $15 in this one.  I started around 1:15 and finished around 6:30.  Eight seats were given away, I had well over 100K in chips.  Sorry I didnt keep track of any memorable hands in this one.

Debbie(pokerMs) was on and she and I jumped into a another $3R that I played until 11pm and cashed small.

Think I’ll go out today and play some LIVE cash game….I’m so tired at looking at this computer screen..LOL
